PARKER SETTLES INTO BACKUP ROLE
Running back Willie Parker isn’t happy about playing second fiddle to Rashard Mendenhall. But there’s little he can do.
Parker didn’t post impressive stats before he was hurt. Then after missing two games with a turf toe injury, he didn’t look impressive in Sunday’s 27-14 win over Cleveland. “Fast Willie” carried seven times for 26 yards against the Browns.
Meanwhile, Mendenhall has rushed for 165, 77 and 62 yards in his three starts.
Parker is averaging 3.7 yards per carry compared to Mendenhall’s 5.1.
“I mean, he’s the coach,” Parker said of Tomlin’s decision to keep Mendenhall as the starter.
“He has to make the decision and live with it. But with the way our offense is going right now, I’m not going against coach’s decision.”
