Penguins acquire Marcel Goc for a 3rd and 5th round pick

The Pittsburgh Penguins have acquired Marcel Goc in exchange for a 2015 third round pick and 2014 5th round pick. Goc, 30, has 11 goals and 23 points on the season.

He’s a player who makes the Penguins faster in the bottom-6 and can play center and wing. Goc is 52.8% in the faceoff circle. There’s been trade speculation surrounding the Penguins and Panthers for weeks as the Penguins were heavily scouting the Panthers prior and after the Olympic break.
Goc is a free agent at seasons end and carries a $1.7 million cap hit.
