It has been no secret that bringing in a goaltender to Push goaltender Marc Andre Fleury was going to be a top priority and the Penguins today acquired the negotiating rights for goaltender Tomas Vokoun from the Washington Capitals, in exchange for a 7th round pick.
The trade was made with an agreement reached on a new deal as the Penguins have signed Vokoun to a two year deal worth $4 million, the Penguins confirm.

Vokoun and Fleury share the same agent Allan Walsh.
The addition of the 35 year old Vokoun is a major upgrade for the Penguins where Brent Johnson faltered last season in the backup role. Why Marc Andre Fleury has struggled so much in the past three post-seasons has been a topic of discussion this off-season by Penguins brass.
The Penguins now have close to $62 million committed to salaries next season.
