Rob Scuderi was a late scratch tonight and there was a reason for it.
Scuderi has been traded to the Chicago Blackhawks for defenseman Trevor Daley.[hide]
Daley, 32, is signed through the 2016-17 season and carries a $3.3 million cap hit. The Penguins will retain 33% ($1.12 million) of Scuderi’s $3.375 million cap hit.
Daley had been actively shopped over the past month as he struggled to fit in with the Hawks. He had six assists and was plus-1 in 29 games with Chicago this year.
His best days are regarded as being behind him but the 5-foot-11, 195-pound blueliner had the best offensive year of his career last season in Dallas, tallying 16 goals, 22 assists and 38 points in 68 contests. His goal, assist and point totals were all career highs. He also had a career-best six power-play goals. Daley’s 16 goals last season ranked fifth among all NHL blueliners, trailing only Oliver Ekman-Larsson (23), Erik Karlsson (21), Dustin Byfuglien (18) and Brent Burns (17).[/hide]

Dude, your nuts. Kunitz is the only guy on the roster that’s remotely tough to play against. I don’t care if he ever scores again, he does the little things go that ale a team a legit cup contender. Kessel on the other hand, that bag of shit needs to go
Kunitz would be fine if he was on the 3rd line. But that isn’t going to happen. Kessel is overpaid. He can shoot and that is it. I’m not a fan.
Ive been as hard on Kunitz as anyone the last couple seasons… he hasnt been a problem for a number of games now. You consistently come out here pounding your chest as if you think you know something others dont but you seem to be a few weeks behind. Sid looked good last night IMO. The finish from virtually everyones game was absent but the cycle was good, they got puck to the net and they didnt attack from just the perimeter. It was game one for a coach who is missing his most talented D man vs the class of the East. That said there were a lot of good takeaways. The 3rd was meh but that is something else Sullivan can take away and work on

DK argues about how good this roster is and they say they agree with nothing he says. go listen to the interview. DK embarrasses himself.

Ok now this deal makes sense we retained salary on scuderi. Garbage for garbage chicago hasn’t loved Daley but he produced points last year. And they did trade Patrick sharp for daley.
How would buy out of daley look at end of year? We hate to eat $1 million of scuds cap hit the more of daleys? Plus side I guess is daley can probably be dealt at end of year and scuderi can not be.

It’s a good deal to move scuderi. But hawks have not been happy with Daley. He probably won’t be a 3/4 we need but a puck mover on 3rd pairing. Hawks did target him for sharp when I think most people thought they could dump sharp without taking on salary.

I think Gramps is taking another gamble on a player coming around…..we shall see. I mean look at Cole.
Small risks for a better player. Concern would be if we have to buy him out end of year. And then have scuds retained still on cap. That is main downside potential.

Seen Pouliot twice in person this year and now twice on TV. Just don’t think he is ready yet but we will see. The games I seen in person there were times I think he could have taken advantage for the space in front of him but didn’t.
