PENGUINS VS WILD

Scott Harrington, 2 SOG, 3 BS, 2 Hits, 19:39 TOI – With the Wild dressing a number of their core players upfront, the Penguins coaching staff opted to play Paul Martin and Scott Harrington together. Martin was on the ice for two goals against, Harrington one goal against. Pittsburgh outshot the Wild 27-18, Minnesota 52 shot attempts to Pittsburgh 49, and the Wild had a lot of zone time. Harrington posted a team-worst 21 Corsi Against 5 v 5.
Oskar Sunqvist, 1 Goal, 2 SOG, 12:27 TOI – The 2012 3rd round pick has showed why he’s the consensus No. 2 forward prospect in the system behind Kasperi Kapanen. Goes to the tough areas in the front of the net and that showed on his goal. For a young player knows how to use his size well. His most common linemates were Nick Spaling and Blake Comeau. Comeau led all Penguins forwards with a +3 corsi rating.
Kasperi Kapanen, 1 SOG, 1 Hit, 15:01 TOI – Kapanen had a +14 corsi rating 5 v 5 vs the Blue Jackets, tonight -5 vs the Wild. However, his game was stronger tonight on a line with Marcel Goc and Patric Hornqvist. One change for Kapanen was playing on left wing after looking lost on right wing vs Blue Jackets. “I thought he looked pretty good tonight on the left side,” head coach Mike Johnston said.

Jayson Megna, 6:16, 1 GV – In 6:16 of ice time, Megna had a Corsi Against of 9. He did not take shift after the 6:00 minute mark in the third period. Does not look like Johnston is as high on Megna as Bylsma was.
Marcel Goc, 1 Assists, 2 SOG, 15-7, 68 FO% – You play Goc with better linemates and he’s going to look like the player from Florida. That’s what we’ve seen in the preseason. His line of Patric Hornqvist and Kasperi Kapanen were on the ice for the most shot attempts. At even strength, Goc has a Corsi For of 34.
