The Pittsburgh Penguins officially finalized a two year deal today with goaltender John Curry. The deal is a two way deal and will pay Curry $105,000 in the minors and $500,000 (per season) in the NHL.
A deal with Curry has been expected but negotiations lasted longer than expected as Curry’s camp claimed the two sides were discussing “many different concepts” of a potential deal as Curry was seeking a one way contract.
Curry will battle veteran goaltender Brent Johnson in camp to be Marc Andre Fleuruy’s backup but Johnson is on a one-way contract.
Curry will likely begin the season as Wilkes Barre’s #1 goaltender.
