POST-GAME BUZZ
The Pittsburgh Penguins (31-10-0, 62 pts) rolled to a 6-3 win over the Tampa Bay Lightning (17-21-2, 36 pts) on Thursday night.
Newcomer Jussi Jokinen (8, 9) continues to shine scoring 2 goals and 1 assist, and Pascal Dupuis (20) added a goal and 2 assists for his second straight three point game. It was the 16th career three point game for Dupuis. Jokinen has 3 goals and 2 assists in three games with the Penguins, getting points in all three games and has fit very well on a line with Brenden Morrow and Dupuis.
Chris Kunitz (21), Evgeni Malkin (8), and Tanner Glass (1) also scored in the win. Glass third period power play goal with 3:20 left in the game was his first goal as a Penguin and first career power play goal. In a physical game Glass led the Penguins with 6 hits.
Jarome Iginla had a strong game and added 2 assists in the win. Iginla was originally credited with a power play goal, a rocket of a shot from the left side but the goal was later given to Chris Kunitz who tipped the shot past Bishop.
Penguins Goaltender Tomas Vokoun made 16 saves on 19 shots to record his 11th win of the season.
Kris Letang returned to the lineup and logged 24:21 of ice time, registering an assist and +3 rating. Letang made an immediate presence on the power play and was paired with Brooks Orpik for most of the time as the Penguins altered their d-pairs with Letang back.
The Penguins outshot the Lightning 41-19 but struggled on the penalty kill, one area of weakness among this group, giving up three power play goals as the Lightning went 3 of 4 on the man advantage.
Notes: Sidney Crosby has joined the Penguins on the road trip and defenseman Paul Martin recovering from a broken bone in his wrist has started skating. Martin’s recovery remains four to six weeks.
