RUTHERFORD INTRIGUED ABOUT LEAFS LUPUL
The Penguins and Leafs have had multiple trade discussions over the last month from Cody Franson, Mike Santorelli to Daniel Winnik, who they’ve made multiple offers for and you can add one more name to that mix.

Some scuttlebutt outside of Pittsburgh is Penguins GM Jim Rutherford, who likes to swing big, has serious intrigue about Leafs winger Joffrey Lupul, despite the injury concerns and three more seasons with a cap hit of $5.25 million.
Rutherford covets a winger with size to combat the Penguins struggles against the likes of Washington, others.
From Sportsnet Elliotte Friedman this morning:
“The Maple Leafs are in a position where they’re trying to collect picks and assets as much as they possibly can, and Lupul is going to be in that conversation. I believe Pittsburgh is in on this. It’s not easy for the Penguins…but they have some young pieces that would definitely interest Toronto, particularly on defense.”
While Friedman states the obvious in Pittsburgh having some young pieces that interest Toronto, namely on defense, sources have said that Toronto has shown interest in forward Beau Bennett and prospect Scott Wilson, based on trade discussions the Penguins have had with Toronto on various players.
