Penguins interested in David Tanabe

A anonymous source has revealed the Penguins have held discussions with defenseman David Tanabe within the past week. The anonymous source says a offer has been made from the Penguins and a decision is expected back from Tanabe this week. “We should hear by Wednesday if Tanabe will accept this offer”, according to the anonymous source.

The Penguins offer to Tanabe is believed to be a 1 year deal worth 900K

This rumor is not coming from my main source but this anonymous source has been right on more than a couple occassion. Other sources have confirmed the Penguins did inquire about Tanabe at one time during free agency. Like i have always said, I will post what i hear unless its a ridiculous rumor like the Jordan Staal for Brent Seabrooke rumor last year at the trade deadline.

Other rumors…..
The Boston Bruins have inquired about defenseman Mark Eaton
Since draft weekend, Brooks Orpik has drawn interest from up to four teams. As i reported right before free agency Calgary and did Montreal inquire about Orpik. Carolina has been speculated while the 4th team is unknown. I’m not buying Carolina being interested in Orpik. The Penguins have made it known they are not looking to move Orpik.

A couple sources have said the Nasreddine signing means nothing to the Penguins. He was soley brought in to mentor Goligoski and Lannon in Wilkes Barre.
