Penguins make qualifying offer to Brad Thiessen

The Pittsburgh Penguins, as expected, have made a qualifying offer to goaltender Brad Thiessen, a source close to Thiessen confirmed this morning. Thiessen received his qualifying offer early last week when the Penguins made a QO to Dustin Jeffrey.
Thiessen who has emerged as the No. 3 goaltender in the Penguins organization, is believed to be looking for a one-way deal in the second year of any deal with the Penguins. That is believed to be a holdup in the two sides reaching a deal.
Talks are on-going between Pens GM Ray Shero and agent Ian Pulver.
Meanwhile, the Penguins as of 11:00 a.m. this morning still have not made a qualfying offer to Tyler Kennedy.
Kennedy’s camp believes it’s a negotiating ploy from the Penguins. They are still expecting the Penguins to make one before today’s deadline.
Notes: Head Coach Dan Bylsma is meeting with the media at Consol in just a few minutes to discuss his Jack Adams award and likely other things. We’ll have some updates following.
