The Pittsburgh Penguins selected right wing Kasperi Kapanen (5-11, 172) with the 22nd overall pick in Round 1 of the NHL Entry Draft.

Kapanen, the son of former NHLer Sami Kapanen who played for Penguins GM Jim Rutherford, had 7 goals and 14 points in 47 games for Kalpa of the Finnish League. He played with his dad this season.
Kapanen is regarded as a strong skater who has a great skill set as a playmaker and shooter. He was the No. 1 rated European skater on Central Scouting.
