Team to explore several different scenario’s
According to sources with knowledge of the Penguins thinking process, GM Ray Shero and the Penguins hockey operations staff have formulated their trade deadline plans and have pinpointed targets at various forward positions and roles, including players that have yet to be made available by teams still in the playoff hunt.

The Penguins trade deadline plans center around several different scenarios from adding adding winger help, to bolstering their depth at center and even adding a role player if the right fit is there.
Operating under the mindset that Sidney Crosby will return this season, the Penguins top priority is said to be adding a scoring winger or two.
GM Ray Shero has been in frequent contact with team’s of interest over the past several days but the Penguins have not been engaged in any kind of serious trade discussions.
As the trade deadline inches closer, the Penguins intend to intensify their pursuit of adding help upfront and despite not showing a willingness to give up future assets, those inside the organization fully expect Shero to make some moves.
As mentioned earlier today, the team is waiting for the market to evolve as teams on the fringe of the playoff race have yet to become sellers. That’s one reason the Penguins haven’t moved on any potential targets….that if they wanted could land right now.
Things though are starting to heat up for the Penguins.
