The Penguins have added veteran depth to the organization, signing winger Tom Kostopolous to a one year, $600,000 contract, the team announced. The deal is a two-way deal and Kostopolous will be placed on waivers today at noon and then re-assigned to Wilkes Barre on Wednesday if he clears.
The 34 year old has been playing in Wilkes Barre on a professional tryout.
Kostopoulos a 4th line type winger, has played in 615 career NHL regular-season games with Pittsburgh, Los Angeles, Montreal, Carolina and Calgary. He has collected 60 goals, 96 assists and 156 points. Last season he appeared in 81 games with the Flames, registering 12 points. Kostopoulos was 5th on the Flames with 124 hits.

The Penguins are set to practice at 12:00 p.m. today at Southpointe. Early indications are defenseman Paul Martin should be in position to return Thursday night in Philadelphia, barring no setbacks during the next couple skating sessions for him. He should be practicing with the team today.
