Patrick Marleau has agreed to join the Pittsburgh Penguins for a quest at a Stanley Cup.

The Penguins will acquire Marleau from the San Jose Sharks for a conditional 2021 third round pick that turns into a 2021 second-rounder if the Penguins win the Stanley Cup.

The deal was agreed upon Sunday evening between the two sides, while Marleau wanted to wait until the morning to make a final decision, team sources say.

Marleau, 40, is in his 22nd NHL season and has 561 goals and 625 assists in 1,715 career games. Through 58 games this season, Marleau has 10 goals and 10 assists.
