The Pittsburgh Penguins will collect donations for the “Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes Fund” before Thursday’s 7:30 p.m. game against the New York Islanders at Mellon Arena.
The fund has been established by the Fraternal Order of Police to support the families of the three officers slain in the line of duty Saturday in Stanton Heights – Eric Kelly, Stephen Mayhle and Paul Sciullo.
“The Pittsburgh Penguins organization joins the community in extending deepest sympathy to the families and friends of these three brave officers,” said team president David Morehouse. “By holding a collection at Thursday’s game we will enable our fans to contribute to the Fallen Heroes Fund, which will assist the officers’ families.”
84 Lumber/Nemacolin Woodlands Resort, one of the Penguins’ long-time corporate partners, will make an $8,400 contribution to the fund.
Checks may be made out to the “Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes Fund.” The Penguins also will collect cash donations. Those writing checks may specify how they want the money to be used.
Those wishing to donate directly by mail may send their checks to the Pittsburgh Fallen Heroes Fund, Greater Pittsburgh Police Federal Credit Union, 1338 Chartiers Avenue, Pittsburgh, PA 15220.
