wbs The Pittsburgh Penguins have informed Wilkes Barre/Scranton head coach John Hynes they won’t block him from interviewing with other NHL clubs, Inside Pittsburgh Sports has learned.

The New Jersey Devils have received permission to interview Hynes and Hynes is considered a strong candidate for the job. Whether New Jersey has the stomach to give up a third round pick for Hynes remains to be seen.
The Penguins are expected to seek compensation for Hynes if he is hired, though, no concrete decision has been made.
Hynes has two years remaining on his contract with the Penguins and is earning a salary of $200,000 for the next two seasons.
Penguin ownership has their fingers crossed that Dan Bylsma gets hired in the coming weeks and his $2.25 million salary for next season comes off the books.
The Penguins are leaning towards against seeking compensation for Bylsma.
The former Penguins head coach is scheduled to interview with the Sabres on Wednesday.
