Pens' games at Consol Energy Center to start at 7:00 p.m.

The Pittsburgh Penguins announced that their regular starting time for home games at CONSOL Energy Center will be 7 p.m.

Previously, Penguins home games had started at 7:30.

“We received good feedback from our season ticket holders, sponsors, media partners and hockey operations department that they like the earlier 7 p.m. starts,” team president David Morehouse said. “And we think it makes sense to join the growing trend of 7 p.m. start times in the NHL.”

Last season, 16 of the other 23 U.S.-based NHL teams had a regular starting time of 7 p.m.

The other four teams in the Atlantic Division – the New Jersey Devils, New York Islanders, New York Rangers and Philadelphia Flyers – all start their home games at 7 p.m.

Some starting times will still be dictated by the national television schedule.
