The Pittsburgh Penguins have just announced that the team has re-assigned Dustin Jeffrey, Joe Vitale and Brian Strait to Wilkes Barre/Scranton. The Penguins are off until Wednesday and the trade deadline is tomorrow.
Jeffrey has eight points (5G-3A) in 15 games with Pittsburgh this season.
Strait has played in three games for Pittsburgh this year. He made his NHL debut Feb. 21 vs. Washington.
Vitale has notched one goal and two points in nine contests with the Penguins. He posted his first career NHL goal Feb. 16 at Colorado.
Jeffrey is the surprise of the group but the Penguins are looking to add a scoring winger or center, prior to Monday’s 3:00 p.m. trade deadline. Paul Martin is due to return to the lineup Wednesday night, which prompted the expected demotion of Brian Strait.
Meanwhile, indications are Chris Kunitz will be a full participant in tomorrow’s practice at 11:00 a.m. The team had today off.
