The Penguins continue to add depth in the minors agreeing to a one year deal with former Toronto Maple Leafs forward Philippe Dupuis. The contract is a two-way deal worth $600,000 at the NHL level.
Dupuis, 27, has appeared in 116 NHL career games and is one of those players who has the ability to get a callup here and there but he is mostly regarded as a minor league player.
Dupuis split the 2011-12 season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League (AHL). He appeared in 30 NHL games with the Leafs last season and had 0 points in 30 games. Dupuis opened the season in Toronto but was sent down to the minors in December was never called up again. In 116 NHL games, Dupuis has 6 goals and 18 points.
The 6-foot, 196-pound native of Laval, Quebec had his best NHL season in 2010-2011 when he played a career high 74 games with the Colorado Avalanche and had 6 goals and 17 points.
