Today, John Perrotto of the Beaver County Times speculated the Pirates are looking to move right-hander Ian Snell in a trade for a power hitter. Reportedly, the Pirates top targets are Dodgers outfielder Matt Kemp and Braves catcher/first baseman Jarrod Saltalamacchia according to Perrotta

First off Ian Snell is not going anywhere. According to a source, this report is totally false. The Pirates have told General Managers around the league Ian Snell, Tom Gorzelanny and Matt Capps are untouchable. Regarding Matt Kemp, I have been told the Dodgers are not going to trade Kemp under any circumstances especially not for Ian Snell. Snell is a very good pitcher but Matt Kemp is a 22yr old outfielder whose going to be a star for many years to come..

The Blues Jays and Pirates have held discussions about Jack Wilson according to reports. The Pirates would love to acquire Blue Jays prospect Adam Lind but thats not going to happen. The Pirates are rumored to have inquired about third baseman Troy Glaus. They were rejected.

The Blue Jays are interested in Paul Maholm as the Jays and Buccos had a deal on the table last year that would have sent Maholm to Toronto while the Pirates would have acquired All-Star right fielder Alex Rios. David Littlefied turned the offer down. The Pirates are interested in Blue Jays prospect Ryan Patterson.
