The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired 29 year old infielder Casey McGehee in-exchange for reliever Jose Veras, the team announced tonight. The move gives the team options at third and first base.

McGehee, 29, became expendable today after the Brewers finalized a three year deal with Aramis Ramirez.
Last season McGehee appeared in 155 games, batting .223 with 13 home runs and 67 RBI’s. It was a down year for McGehee after hitting .285 with 23 home runs and 104 RBI’s in 2010.
McGehee has the ability to play third and first base. He appeared in 147 games at third base last season. McGehee made just $478,000 last season.
