PIRATES ACQUIRE IKE DAVIS
The Pittsburgh Pirates and New York Mets have reached an agreement on a trade that will send first baseman Ike Davis to Pittsburgh in exchange for pitcher Zack Thornton and a PTBNL.
Thornton is a marginal prospect who the Pirates left unprotected in the Rule-5 draft.
Davis, 27, is hitting .208 with 1 home run and 5 RBIs this season. Davis batted .205/.326/.334 with 9 home runs and 33 RBIs in 317 at-bats last season. His career season was in 2012 when he hit 32 home runs and 90 RBIs.
The Pirates 40-man roster is now at 40 players and the team will make a corresponding move on the 25-man roster when Davis reports.
