The Pittsburgh Pirates have acquired right handed pitcher Eric Hacker from the New York Yankees. Hacker, 26, has made six starts this season for AA Trenton and AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
Hacker went 1-1 in three starts for AA Trenton posting a 4.88 era and went 0-1 with a 7.87 era in three starts with AAA Scranton/Wilkes-Barre.
The Pirates sent Romulo Sanchez to the Yankees to finalize the trade. Hacker will be assigned to AAA Indianapolis.
At age 25, Hacker went a combined 9-6 with a 2.43 era making starts for Class A Tampa and Class AA Trenton in 2008. The Pirates view Hacker as a power arm who has been slowed by injuries, which is the reason he was competing against younger players last season.
