The Latest Pirates Buzz
Since Monday, the Pittsburgh Pirates have had a one year deal in place with pitcher Scott Olsen and the two sides are inching closer to officially finalizing the deal.
“We are optimistic that something will get worked out sooner than later, ” Matt Sosnick, the agent for Scott Olsen told Inside Pittsburgh Sports.com this afternoon.
The deal should be official in the next 48 hours.
With the deals for Olsen, Kevin Correia and Matt Diaz likely to become official by Friday, the Pirates have one spot open on their 40-man roster.
The team is considering an addition via the rule-5 draft but they also remain very active on the trade front and still looking to add to their starting rotation via trade and bullpen via free agency.

The Pirates have picked up their efforts this week to move both Paul Maholm and Ryan Doumit but as expected interest is not high.
