Pirates cut ties with pitcher Scott Olsen

The Pittsburgh Pirates tonight released pitcher Scott Olsen. Olsen, 27, was signed to a one year deal worth $450,000 in the off-season. He was pegged as the No. 5 starter in the rotation going into spring training but he showed up to camp out of shape and sustained a hamstring injury that he never recovered from.
