Pirates first team to hit 3 sets of back-to-back home runs since 1977 Red Sox

Play between the Pirates and Reds has been suspended in the seventh inning with the score tied at 7-7. Tonight’s game will resume tomorrow at 5:30 p.m.
The Pirates hit six solo home runs, and Neil Walker (.265-4HR-7RBI) and Gaby Sanchez (.267-2HR-3RBI) hit back-to-back homers twice as the Pirates and Reds combined for 10 homers in only six innings.
The Pirates did something tonight that no team has done since 1977. According to Elias Sports Bureau, the Pirates are first team with three sets of back-to-back home runs in a game since the 1977 Boston Red Sox. That number could grow when plays resumes tomorrow.
