The Pittsburgh Pirates announced on Sunday that RHP Bryan Morris has been promoted from Bradenton (A – Advanced) of the Florida State League to the Altoona Curve. With Bradenton, Morris was leading the FSL with a 0.60 ERA and posted a 3-0 record.
The Pirates are hopeful that Morris will continue to progress in Altoona and be in line for a Triple-A callup in August, according to GM Neal Huntington.
There’s an outside chance that Morris projects to enter the majors in August or September of 2011.
Morris was traded to Pittsburgh along with Andy LaRoche in July 2008 as part of a three-team deal that also involved the Boston Red Sox and involved Manny Ramirez and Jason Bay.
Morris was Dodgers first round draft choice in the 2006 June Draft(26th overall pick).
