Pirates promote prospect Jose Tabata to Class AAA

The Pittsburgh Pirates have promoted outfielder Jose Tabata to Class AAA Indianapolis per John Perrotto.

Tabata is batting .303 with 2 home runs (15 doubles) and 25 RBI's in 61 games. Tabata's estimated arrival in the majors is 2010.

Tabata is batting .390 in his last 10 games and has been on a tear in the month of July.

Top prospect Pedro Alvarez went 2-for-3 Thursday night in the Curve's 5-1 loss.

What a steal from the Yankees. Great news, the more of these guys move up, the more hope we have in the future.

I also would hope we bring up some of our future up this year and get a sneak peek. It also would be a great way to get guys like Tabata, Lincoln, Alverez, and maybe even Alderson and some of the kids we got in the last few days. Also glad to see Baseball Tonight giving the Pirates credit for the direction they are going. About time someone in the national media sees the plan.

As well as Walker....geez what happened to him? Would it be crazy to think Tony Sanchez may be a September callup? I believe he was called one of the most major league ready players in the draft.

I hope that Tabata starts to show some more power. Again he is only 20.

I would rather not see any of them this season. I would like to see them break the lineup at the beginning of a season, when there is a lot of enthusiasm and PNC is full. They are not as ready as McCutchen and there is no reason to make them start playing in a doomed lineup. The expectations on these guys is so high that they are practically being set up for failure as it is, even if they put up good numbers for rookies. Give'm the time they need for mental development.
