The Pirates this morning made a few roster moves, officially releasing infielder Garrett Atkins. The team also reassigned LHP Justin Thomas, RHP Fernando Nieve to their minor league camp
Atkins was brought in on a spring training invite to battle for one of the final bench spots. He struggled mightily at the plate, hitting .129 this spring.
