Starter Ross Ohlendorf pitched into the seventh inning, Andrew McCutchen stole three bases and scored three runs as the Pittsburgh Pirates beat the Colorado Rockies 7-3 on Tuesday night to end an eight-game losing streak.
Ohlendorf (10-8) notched his 10th win of the season, surrendering three runs on six hits, walked two and struck out three in six-plus innings.
"This was the best my fastball has been all year," he said. "I had good velocity and was still able to locate it well."
Ohlendorf became the first Pirates pitcher to reach 10 wins this season.
Pittsburgh jumped out to a 5-1 lead in the third inning and the highlight of the inning was a two run triple by Delwyn Young.
Young, 27, is batting .304 with 5 home runs and 32 RBI's on the season.
In the sixth inning, McCutchen led off with a walk, stole second and scored on Lastings Milledge's double to right to make it 6-1.
McCutchen's three steals were a career high, and the Pirates were aggressive on the basepads all night as the team stole a season-high five bases.
The Rockies added two runs to cut the Pirates lead to 6-3 and Andrew McCutchen scored in the 7th inning on a Garret Jones double to push the Pirates lead to 7-3
The Pirates improve to 46-66 on the season.
