Pirates starter Ross Ohlendorf will not need surgery, the team announced today. The Pirates announced that today's MRI revealed a strain to the latissimus dorsi/teres major muscles (back of shoulder).
However, it is expected that Ohlendorf will be placed on the 15-day disabled list.
Ohlendorf left yesterday's game after just 8 pitches. He is 1-11 on the season with a 4.07 ERA but has been the Pirates most consistent starter over the past 10 games.
