The Pittsburgh Pirates plan to announce a one year extension for manager Clint Hurdle this week. An agreement has been reached between the two sides and the deal will include an option for 2015. An announcement is likely to be made on Wednesday or Thursday.
Preliminary contract talks on an extension began about two weeks ago as owner Bob Nutting, a huge supporter of Hurdle’s, made it his priority to get Hurdle locked up. Hurdle has gone 151-173 in two seasons as Pirate manager.
