The wait is over for Gregory Polanco.
The Pirates have placed second baseman Neil Walker on the 15-day DL after undergoing an appendectomy and the team intends to call up Polanco for tomorrow’s game vs Chicago.
Polanco batted .347 with 7 home runs, 49 RBIs with 17 doubles and 5 triples in Triple-A Indianapolis.
The team did not plan to call up Polanco just yet but the Walker injury has accelerated his arrival to the Majors.
The Pirates were a 6-2 winner tonight vs the Cubs, improving to 30-33 on the season.
Charlie Morton struck out 7 and walked none in an excellent outing, allowing 7 hits and 1 run in seven innings.
Andrew McCutchen and Ike Davis each homered. Starling Marte had a breakout game, going 3-4 with 2 RBIs and 2 doubles.
