Pittsburgh’s dynamic duo of Sam Young and DeJuan Blair combined for 42 points and Pitt rebounded from their first loss of the season to beat #8 Syracuse 78-60 Monday night at the Peterson Center. Young, Pitt's leading scorer with an 18.7 average, made seven of 12 shots and scored 19 of his 22 points in the second half. Blair who struggled against Louisville was a force in the low post finishing the game with 20 points – 12 rebounds.
Pitt was very physical on defense and Syracuse was frustrated at times. Syracuse shot 41 percent from floor, compared to Pitt who shot 53.5 percent from the floor. Syracuse came into the averaging 81.5 points a game
Pitt (17-1) travels to West Virginia (13-4) on Sunday.
