The Pitt Men’s Ice Hockey program will be donating all proceeds from its home opener vs. Youngstown State University to the Mario Lemieux Foundation in the memory of former staff member Lauren Ruud.
Lauren was a dedicated game staff member during the 2007-2008 season prior to losing a courageous battle with lymphoma. This game will be played in her honor. In addition, Pitt players will be wearing green ribbon stickers in memory of Lauren on their helmets this season.
The Mario Lemieux Foundation will be providing autographed items to be included in a raffle. All proceeds from this event will be donated to the Mario Lemieux Foundation.
Tickets will be available for purchase at the door at a cost of $5 for adults and $2 for students and seniors. Additional donations are appreciated.
Directions to BladeRunners-Harmarville are available at www.bladerunnersice.com. In the event of any questions, please contact Andy Mecs at amecs@pitthockey.com.
Duquesne University will also be donating 66% of all gate proceeds from its game vs. Pitt on Sunday, October 12th at 2:00 pm at Ice Castle. The Mario Lemieux Foundation will be providing autographed jerseys, pucks, and sticks to be auctioned or raffled off at each of these games.
