The Pittsburgh Penguins off to their best start since the 1995-1996 season, face off Tuesday night against the defending Stanley Cup Champions for a rematch of last year’s finals showdown. The Red Wings who defeated the Penguins in six games, came into the 2008-2009 as the favorites to repeat as Stanley Cup Champions due to the addition of former Penguins right winger Marian Hossa. Hossa is the Red Wings’ leading scorer with eight goals and nine assists for 17 points, ranking seventh most in the NHL as of 11/10/08. Hossa has been a dynamic force for the Red Wings night in and night out and is currently playing on a line with Pavel Datsyuk and Tomas Holmstrom. The Penguins have done their best to replace Hossa’s production with the addition of veteran forward Miroslav Satan who leads the Penguins with 8 goals and is third on the team with 12 points. Satan, Sidney Crosby and Evgeni Malkin have combined for 50 pts this season.
