POST-MORNING SKATE BUZZ
The Penguins organization is excited about the return of Beau Bennett. Bennett has wrapped up his three game conditioning stint and GM Ray Shero made a personal scouting trip last night to watch Bennett in action vs Providence.
Penguins head coach Dan Bylsma said moments ago that Shero’s scouting report of Bennett was “pretty glowing”.
Bennett is set to rejoin the Penguins today and likely return to the lineup tomorrow night in Columbus.
Bennett had 1 assist in three games played during the conditioning assignment.
When Evgeni Malkin returns it can’t be ruled out of Bennett playing with Malkin and Neal as the coaches are intrigued about Jussi Jokinen and Brandon Sutter anchoring the third line in the post-season.

— Bylsma admitted he’d be comfortable with Jeff Zatkoff as the backup goalie in the playoffs. Tomas Vokoun skated again this morning. There is talk of the Penguins planning to give Vokoun a courtesy start in the regular season.

— When asked about giving Sidney Crosby a game or two off, Bylsma revealed it isn’t something he’s going to do. “I’ve never seen that work out too well,” Bylsma said.
