PRE-GAME BUZZ
FLYERS (41-30-9, 91 pts) @ PENGUINS (51-24-5, 107 pts)
— Chris Kunitz and Brooks Orpik will sit out for the second time in three games due to what is believed to just be minor injuries for both.
“It’s just day to day. Not long-term,” head coach Dan Bylsma said.
Harry Zolnierczyk will get into the lineup today with Kunitz out.
Marc Andre Fleury will start in goal with Steve Mason starting for Philadelphia. Fleury eyes 40 wins for the second time in his career.
— If the Flyers win in regulation or overtime they will clinch 3rd place in the Metropolitan Division.
— Bylsma was asked about the difference this year in how many pundits aren’t talking about the Penguins as a heavy favorite as in years past. Bylsma claims in previous years he didn’t pay much attention and isn’t again.”Not paying too much attention to it this year,” Bylsma said.
— A key area to watch today and in a possible first round series between the Penguins and Flyers is special teams. “Flyers won both sides of the ledger in both of those games,” Bylsma said of Philadelphia earning a home and home sweep against Pittsburgh last month.
