Contract talks between Penguins GM Ray Shero and agent Allan Walsh are under-way in regards to a new contract for winger Mike Rupp. Preliminary discussions “officially began” today between the two sides.
There has and continues to be a strong consensus on the Penguins and Rupp reaching a deal before July 1. One source expressed optimism that it could happen rather quickly.

Rupp has been considered the most likely Penguin to resign for months and was telling close associates during the regular season that he expected to be back.
Walsh also represents winger Pascal Dupuis and there has also been some minor discussions between Walsh, Shero about Dupuis future with the team. Dupuis future is believed to be tied to Tyler Kennedy at this time.
The Penguins though also do have an interest in retaining Dupuis.
Sources say contract talks between Walsh and Shero are more focused on Mike Rupp at this early stage.
