Rangers snap Canucks 17 game unbeaten streak
New York Rangers head coach John Tortorella said earlier today via NHL.com that the Rangers wouldn’t be able to win a 1-0 game against the NHL-best Vancouver Canucks Thursday night at Madison Square Garden.
Tortorella was willing to eat those words after the game as the Rangers defeated the Canucks 1-0 behind a 31 save shutout performance from Henrik Lundqvist who earned his 6th shutout of the season and 30th of his career.
With the win, New York improved to 26-16-2, 55pts, moving a season best 10 game over .500 and only three points behind second place Pittsburgh in the Atlantic division.
The Rangers are now a league best 13-3-3 in one goal games.

In the win, Wojtek Wolski scored his first goal as a Ranger, helping the Rangers end the Canucks’ 17-game unbeaten streak in regulation time.
The NHL leading Canucks (28-9-6) hadn’t lost in regulation since Dec. 5, posting a 14-0-3 record prior to tonight’s meeting with the Rangers.
Bruins knock off Flyers
Just days after scoring 4 third period goals against Pittsburgh Monday night, the Bruins topped themselves Thursday night, scoring 5 third period goals and knocking off the East leading Flyers (27-11-5, 59 pts) in thrilling fashion at TD Garden.
Steve Kampfer broke a tie with 1:14 left in Boston’s five-goal third period to help the Bruins beat the Philadelphia Flyers 7-5 on Thursday night.
In a game that featured five lead changes, the Bruins rallied to beat the Flyers for their third straight victory. Boston is 7-1-3 in the last 11 games and playing very good hockey of late.
Philadelphia led 3-2 after two periods before both teams combined for a seven-goal third period. The Bruins get another matchup against the Pittsburgh Penguins Saturday afternoon at home as the Bruins will look to go 3-0 this week against the top-2 points leaders in the East.
