Rangers 4 – Boston 3

Derek Stepan (14) broke a 3-3 tie at 12:21 of the third period and the New York Rangers (42-15-7, 91 pts) defeated the Boston Bruins 4-3 on Sunday afternoon at Madison Square Garden.

Ruslan Fedotenko (8), Carl Hagelin (12) and Marian Gaborik (32) also scored for the Rangers who were outshot 33-17 in the win. Brad Richards added two assists in the win.
Henrik Lundqvist was shaky at times but made 30 saves to earn his 31st win of the season. Tim Thomas suffered the loss, stopping 13 of 17 shots.
David Krejci (17), Jordan Caron (4) and Benoit Pouliot (10) scored for Boston who are 3-6 in their last nine games and 0-3 against the Rangers this season.
At the 64 game mark, the Rangers lead the NHL with 91 points and moved 12 points ahead of No. 2 Boston (38-23-3, 79 pts) and 10 points ahead of division rival No. 4 Pittsburgh (38-21-5, 81 pts) for the conference lead.
The Rangers last season had 93 points.
