When Miroslav Satan was demoted to Wilkes Barre on March 4th, it was widely believed that Satan’s days with the Penguins were over.
Just over two months later, Satan is playing a part in the Penguins success in the playoffs.
Thanks to the work of his agent Allan Walsh who played an instrumental role in the whole situation, Satan accepted the Penguins demotion to Wilkes Barre.
Walsh and Satan took Ray Shero’s “word” that Satan would be called up for playoffs and the Penguins indicated to Satan’s camp that Satan would be giving an opportunity to get back into the lineup during the playoffs.
Walsh and Shero have a close working relationship as Walsh represents Marc Andre Fleury, Petr Sykora, Ruslan Fedotenko, Pascal Dupuis and Miroslav Satan.
Sources tell me this close “working relationship” between Shero, Walsh could pay dividends for the Penguins in

free agency as Walsh represents Chicago’s Martin Havlat, a player that has been on the Penguins radar for the past two seasons.
Havlat who remains Chicago’s #1 priority this off-season,and is currently making $6 million per season but his market value will be in the range of $4.75 – $5.25 million according to league sources, due to injury concerns and cap concerns around the league.
After a number of injury plagued seasons with Chicago, Havlat under-went right shoulder surgery last spring and doctors claim the surgery fixed an on-going issue that hampered Havlat for many seasons.
Havlat, 27, would provide the Penguins a long-term winger on their top two lines and if Havlat hits the open market, I’m told Ray Shero will be among the first calls Allan Walsh makes regarding his top client this summer.
Havlat led the Blackhawks with 77 points on the season, appearing in 81 games and currently leads the Hawks in playoff scoring with 13 points.
Free Agency begins July 1st.
