Preliminary talks between Wade Arnott, the agent for Dan Hamhuis and Pens GM Ray Shero turned into "brief negotiations" Tuesday afternoon, a source familiar with the situation told Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
Members of Hamhuis camp, including agent Wade Arnott have declined comment for now on the specifics of talks.
A source characterized talks beyond the preliminary stages but not at the point where full fledged negotiations are going on.
As of 3:00 p.m. this afternoon, the two sides were actively engaged in discussions.
Indications out of Penguins headquarters is that Hamhuis appears to be "intrigued" about the opportunity to play in Pittsburgh.
