The Steelers linebacker position is starting to shape up. A league source tells me the team has released 3rd year linebacker Patrick Bailey.
According to the source, Bailey was informed yesterday that he has been let go.
The Steelers last year carried eight linebackers and Bailey has been a member of the team since their 2008 Super Bowl winning season.
A special teams ace, Bailey was in the mix for one of the final linebacker spots with 4th round pick Thaddeus Gibson.
It is believed Gibson has made the team but as of 3:00 p.m. we have not been able to get confirmation. The Steelers are expected to carry nine linebackers this season.
6:00 p.m. is the roster cut deadline.
