Sources: Pirates turn down offer from Mets

The Pittsburgh Pirates have turned down a potential trade that would send left fielder Jason Bay to the New York Mets for outfielder Lastings Miledge and prospect LHP Jon Niese. The talks appear to be dead as the Pirates are asking for pitcher Jorge Sosa. More on this later…..

According to the Boston Globe, the chances are “pretty good” that the Red Sox will trade for White Sox outfielder Jermaine Dye. Red Sox outfielder Willy Mo Pena and minor league pitcher Justin Masterson are also expected to be part of the deal. The Pirates had interest in Willy Mo Pena but the Pirates only saw him as a 2 month rental considering he was up for arbitration after the season.
