The injury to Jordan Staal is not good, according to a league source. Staal broke his right hand in today’s practice and the 6-foot-4, 220-pound centerman will be sidelined for several weeks. The injury is expected to keep Staal on the shelf until December.
Staal left the ice today in considerable pain and was favoring his right hand. He went straight to the trainers room and was sent to see team doctors immediately after suffering the injury.
Staal was on his way to making his return to the ice against the Dallas Stars Wednesday night, after a horrible four-to-five month battle with a foot infection that put him on injured reserve to start the season.
“Terrible luck for the kid, ” league source told Inside Pittsburgh Sports.
