The Pittsburgh Steelers have reached an agreement with tight end Matt Spaeth. Spaeth who was the Steelers 3rd round pick in 2007, will be back for his second go around with the team.
Spaeth played four seasons for Pittsburgh (2007-2010), collecting 40 receptions for 275 yards and 5 touchdowns during that span. In two seasons with the Bears, Spaeth had just 13 receptions for 78 yards and 3 touchdowns. He caught only 6 passes for 28 yards and one touchdown in 2012.
Spaeth’s best season was in 2008 with the Steelers when he had 17 receptions for 136 yards.
Profootballfocus rated Spaeth as the No. 1 run blocking tight end last season and No. 16th best pass blocker.
The Steelers had former Bears tight end Kellen Davis in for a two day visit on Thursday and today, but Davis left Steelers headquarters Friday afternoon without a deal.
