Steelers bringing in multiple kickers for workouts this weekend

Josh Scobee was at the facility on Friday and is still with the team but whether he makes it through the weekend as a Steeler remains to be seen.[hide]

After two missed field goals in Thursday’s loss, Scobee has now missed four field goals and one extra point in three games.

Concerned about Scobee’s mental state right now, the Steelers are bringing in multiple kickers for workouts this weekend.

Three of the kickers coming in for workouts tomorrow are Randy Bullock, Kai Forbath and Chris Boswell.

Bullock was just released by the Houston Texans after missing a field goal and extra point in week 3.

Bullock was 30-35 last season for Houston, going 11-13 from 40+ yards, including 4-5 from 50+.

In 2013 Bullock was just 13-22 from 40+ yards and made just 74% of his kicks that season.

Forbath was released by the Washington Redskins after week 1. He had spent the three previous seasons with Washington.

Forbath made 88.9% of his kicks (24-27) last season and in his career is an 89% kicker (60-69).

Boswell has never kicked in an NFL regular season game. In his college career Boswell made just 74% of his kicks. Jeff Reed had never kicked in the NFL when the Steelers signed him during the 2002 season, so Boswell has that going for him.

The kickers will be trying out in bad weather as the forecast calls for rain.

If the Steelers were to move on from Scobee who they acquired and his $3.425 million salary in exchange for a sixth-round pick in August, Forbath is the most intriguing but Washington lost their patience with Forbath because of a poor leg on kickoffs where he managed only 48 touchbacks on 122 attempts.[/hide]
