Friday's Steelers Notes
- No deal will be in place by the weekend between the Steelers and second round pick Jason Worilds, a source close to Worilds tells Inside Pittsburgh Sports this morning. Movement between the two sides is not expected until early next week.
- The health of Hines Ward is one of the Steelers biggest questionmarks heading into training camp. Ward ended the 2009 season with two bad hamstrings and was barely able to participate in off-season workouts. '
- Those close to Ward tell me the 34 year old receiverĀ has participated fully in workouts over the past couple weeks. Ward has been working outĀ in Georgia for the most part and indications are he will be heading to camp healthy, at least that's the word out of Ward's camp. The Steelers will monitor his workload very closely.
- The signing of Adrian Jones (6-4, 330) to a one year deal is a pure depth move, contacts in the Steelers organization tell me. Jones was not signed to replace Willie Colon and the sense is Jones has been brought inĀ to provide depth at the right guard position.
- The Steelers attended the workout of veteran guard Chester Pitts this week.
- The front runners for the starting right tackle position include Ramon Foster, Trai Essex and Jonathan Scott. There is a lot of intrigue centering around Foster inside the organization who scouts believe will win the job.
