Steelers Tuesday Notes
Head coach Mike Tomlin called the Steelers 23-7 victory over the Cincinnati Bengals a “satisfying win”, pointing to the importance of a division win.
The Steelers win was “highlighted by great efforts from our defense” Tomlin said but he also feels the Steelers played well in all three phases.
On the injury front, the Steelers are pretty healthy going into Sunday’s tilt against the 9-4 New York Jets.
*Flozell Adams continues to deal with an ankle sprain. He will be limited early in the week. Tomlin said Adams didn’t have his best game against the Bengals but should be better this week.
*Cornerback Bryant McFadden is still dealing with a hamstring injury but like Adams, McFadden should be fine for this week. Both players will be limited early in the week.
*Troy Polamalu is still hampered with his nagging injury which is believed to be more of a calf injury than an achilles injury.
*Tomlin said again today that Aaron Smith is a week better. He’s going to be in at somepoint today and Tomlin said the team will see where he is after Smith began lifting weights last week.
Tomlin likes his progress and the team is still optimistic about him returning for the playoffs.
*When asked about Ben Roethlisberger getting zero calls, Tomlin said, “I don’t have a flag”. He’s clearly frustrated as others are on the team.
*Very good news on the Heath Miller front. According to Tomlin, Miller passed his post-concussion tests and he is a full go this week and will practice tomorrow.
*Elsewhere on the injury front, Anthony Madison has a knee contusion and Keyaron Fox has a hyper extended elbow but both will be fine for this week.
